Hey, guys. I’m going to be ambitious and say that I’m back. No more projects though, just what I’m watching day to day. I’ll make note of if they’re in The Book though, of course. Now then! On to the movies.

MImageud contains all of the themes I’ve come to associate with Jeff Nichols over his last two films (Shotgun Stories and Take Shelter): questions about masculinity and coming of age, small, intimate settings, family tensions, cycles of violence, and the sins of our fathers. I’m sure there are some that I’m missing but those immediately spring to mind. While I have appreciated his skill in making these small, personal feeling films, none of them have connected to me as much as I would have wished. Mud comes the closest.
