First off: Huzzah! Exams are officially over for another year, and so Leeds students can breathe the sweet air of freedom from revision once more. What better time, then, to launch our exciting new regular feature here on the Film Soc Community Blog: Something For The Weekend, where we sum up all the grooviest film-related happenings going on in Leeds over the next few days and keep you informed on the wealth of film fun on offer. So without further adieu, let’s jump straight in.

The big new release is Byzantium (pictured above), Neil Jordan’s second foray into the Vampire sub-genre (following Interview With The Vampire) which offers up several twists on the established vamp mythology. The vampires here have no Halloween costume-style fangs, and instead dispatch their victims with a handy (eh!) retractable thumb claw.
