Jack The Giant Slayer (2013)


The ancient war between humans and a race of giants is reignited when Jack, a young farmhand fighting for a kingdom and the love of a princess, opens a gateway between the two worlds.

Seems fitting that I’d get to this one so shortly after Oz: The Great and Powerful (2013), since this one is also a re-telling of a time old story, and it stars Nicholas Hoult of Warm Bodies (2013). Everyone has heard Jack and the Bean Stalk at least once, and this film plays out pretty exactly compared to the old story, with a modern twist at the end. I can’t really say there’s anything that stands out to make it a great film, but at the same time it’s not boring or mundane.
